Three & Four Year-Old Program (PK3)
Children enrolling in the Three-Year-Old Program must be 3 before October 1, 2009 and must be toilet-trained.
Our 3 and 4 year olds blended class is offered on a full time schedule for five days or a part-time schedule for three days (Monday-Wednesday-Friday). Children may choose from a half-day class or full-day class and the Extended Day Program is offered to the preschool students who need later hours. As mandated by the State of Kentucky regulations all students choosing a full day schedule will participate in a quiet time during their day.
The morning schedule will consist of both large and small group work; hands-on learning experiences; developmentally appropriate learning areas for individual choice. The curriculum includes Bible stories; math, language arts, science, writing experiences along with creativity and dramatic play. Teachers offer a safe, nurturing and consistent learning environment for children to develop self awareness, respect for oneself and others, and opportunities for social and emotional growth while being engaged with adults and other children.
Special classes for the 3/4 class include an introduction to Spanish on Wednesday mornings with Mrs. Partin and Chapel with Pastor Johnson of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Chapel will be held every other Friday morning. These classes will be attended by both the 3/4 and 4/5 classes. We implement a Christian-based curriculum established by the Lutheran Concordia Publishers, with weekly bible stories, songs and daily prayer.
