Lutheran School of Lexington School News May 2008
Principal’s Corner:
“Do You Love Me?”
I had the honor of listening to a sermon recently entitled: “Do You Love Me?” I was visiting this church, whose pastor was a friend to me. He preached to the congregation and visitors a clear and simple message. Christ was sacrificed for us in love. His life was the greatest witness of love. He served all, loved all – even those who hated him, He died for all. His sacrifice was unbeknown to His follows until the day drew near.
His disciples gave up all to follow. They left behind their home, family, and work to commit to the teachings of Christ. The question they were asked: Do you love me?
Keep Christ in the forefront of all decisions
- Respect leaders and all authority figures
- Worship, lift things in prayer
- Control your actions and words
- Be positive, even in the toughest of situations
- Remain focused on the important things
- Serve others faithfully
- Don’t make important decisions in anger
- Seek guidance and listen to advice
- Don’t give up!
I felt that these ten simple rules can serve all of us very well at this time of year – and always! We all become restless in life, but it seems a bit more prevalent at this time of year.
As teachers, this is the time of year that we consider our future plans. We look at our efforts throughout the year and look for a glimmer or total affirmation that our efforts help make a difference in our students’ lives. Are we making a difference? Should I consider teaching another grade or subject?
Spring brings with it – new life. Plants are budding and animals are having their young. Easter is the most important sign of new life. The resurrection of Jesus Christ was the assurance that we have new life through Him. Forgiveness is ours, giving to us freely, so that we may one day live with Him in heaven.

Our Association School Development
The Lexington Lutheran School Association has put in place a full marketing campaign for our school opening in the fall of 2008. We most recently participated in the Family Magazine Camp & School Fair at the indoor soccer arena, and continue with direct mailers being sent to homes with children ages 2-8 in the Lexington area.
Our school will be advertised in both the Verizon and Windstream yellow pages, with a special direct mailer opportunity sponsored via Verizon that OR and LSL will share. We have already started to receive enrollments. There will be limited student openings for the first year (50).
Employment Opportunities
Resumes are welcomed for full and part time teaching positions and teaching assistants at the Good Shepherd and Our Redeemer locations. Teachers and staff members are key in providing quality, faith-based education and marketing our schools, so please pray for God to lead us through this process.
